When Apple launched the second generation of HomePodat the beginning of the year, she also took the opportunity to announce a very interesting function.
It’s regarding the ability of these smart speakers (yes, all of the line) to detect smoke or carbon monoxide alarm sounds — and make all members of the house easily alerted.
Here’s how to enable the feature Sound Recognition on your device! ????
Requirements
To enable this, first make sure your HomePod (1st or 2nd generation) or HomePod mini is updated to HomePod Software version 16.4 or later. In addition, you need to have the architecture of the Home app up to date.
how to activate
Open the Home app on your iPhone/iPad and, in the “Home” tab, a notice should appear at the top of the screen informing you of the news. Tap “Continue” and “Activate”.
If this does not appear, tap the button represented by three dots (in the upper right corner) and go to “Home Settings”. Then select Safety and Security » Sound Recognition. From there, you can also manage notifications and the people who will be able to hear the sounds picked up by the speaker.
Very cool, don’t you think?! ????
