How to Disable Full Row Selection in Windows Explorer

In Windows File Explorer, when you select the Details view, all columns in this row are active for file selection. Under Windows XP, only the ‘Name’ column was. But from Windows Vista this behavior has changed and now every time you select an item the entire row is selected in Windows 11/10/8/7.

When using the Details view in Windows File Explorer, when you select an item, the set is selected. In a large folder with many columns displayed, it may be difficult to right-click the folder background if needed.

So, if you want, you can change the full line selection behavior, so that only the file name is selected.
