Existing license holders can convert driving license into smart card by submitting an application online through the Parivahan website and paying a fee of Rs 200 along with postal charges. This discount is valid for one year only. After one year a fee of Rs.1300 has to be paid.
The card is issued as per the norms of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Transport Minister Antony Raju said that vehicle registration certificates will also be converted into smart cards from May.
