For a few years now, iPhone users in some countries (such as the United States) have had a very practical option when they need to change their iPhone or want to use an eSIM (electronic chip). This is the eSIM Fast Transfer (eSIM Quick Transfer).

With this, you can quickly transform a physical chip into an eSIM without many headaches — taking advantage of all its benefits, such as greater security and not having to deal with it when changing cell phones, for example.

The good news is that this is finally being expanded to Brazil from the iOS 17.2according to the MacMagazine had already advanced a few weeks ago.

In addition to allowing you to “transform” a physical chip into an eSIM, the new feature encompasses two other things: the possibility of transferring a physical chip to an eSIM between iPhones and also doing this between eSIMs.

In this article, we will focus on how you can transform your physical chip into an eSIM! ????

Requirements

Your iPhone must be running iOS 17.2 or later and connected to a network. Clear, as it is the only one offering the service for now. It is expected that, over time, eSIM Fast Transfer will also be expanded to Vivo and TIM.

According to Claro, the initiative is available to customers with postpaid and prepaid plans (i.e., the Controle plan was left out); soon, it should also reach iPads.

How to turn a physical SIM into an eSIM

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap “Cellular” and then “Convert to eSIM”.
  3. As we can see in the image below, it is essential that you are on a Wi-Fi network for the conversion to begin.
  1. On the next screen, confirm Convert to eSIM » Convert to eSIM once more.
  2. Wait a few moments and authenticate using Face ID or Touch ID for the process to be completed.

Once this is done, you can now remove the physical SIM from the iPhone tray, as your line will no longer be associated with it.

Nice news, don’t you think?! ????
