This allows you to easily mirror audio from your iDevice to HomePod. Though, if you are a user, you may not be aware of all the features offered by HomePod. After all, the Apple Home app on iOS can be confusing for many people due to its endless menus, tabs, and settings. Thus, you may not be aware of the HomePod’s ability to locally measure your room temperature and humidity. Here is how to use this function.
- You must have HomePod Mini or HomePod 2 software version 16.3 or later. HomePod 1 does not support this feature.
- Place your HomePod still and give it a few minutes to calibrate automatically.
- Once calibrated, you will be able to view the room temperature and humidity.
- To do this, launch the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch.
- Click Climate at the top left. This will reveal the current temperature and humidity levels. Alternatively, you can ask Siri for their values.
- To associate these values with Automation or Shortcuts, go to the Automation tab in the Home app.
- Click on the plus sign (+) in the upper right corner.
- Choose Add Automation.
- Select The sensor detects something at the bottom of the list.
- Choose whether the automation should revolve around temperature or humidity values, and then click Next.
- Set the target value, and optionally add time and people conditions. When done, click Next to choose what the automation does when the room humidity/temperature drops below a desired value or rises above a desired value.
As you can see, checking room temperature and humidity is easy if you have an Apple HomePod Mini or HomePod 2. You can even ask Siri for their values hands-free and without relying on the Home app. And with its built in automation, you can create relevant event threads when the temperature or humidity is too high or too low.
