Dual Boot Windows 11 and Windows 10
Let me walk you through what it takes to do this little job, here’s how:
- First, you need to download Windows 11 ISO image and then burn it to DVD or USB drive. We prefer to install Windows from a USB drive because of its reusability and compatibility help. You can download the official Windows 11 ISO file.
- Second, you need to create a 20GB hard disk partition. How to do? Here is the procedure.
Create a new partition
Click on “run” then type > “diskmgmt.msc” press “OK” button.
As soon as you press the “OK” button, this is what appears. This is the Disk Management console. Here’s what it looks like. Right-click on drive F: (in my case) and choose “Shrink Volume” option from the list.
When you choose the “Shrink volume” option, an alert message appears asking you how much you want to shrink your drive. Well, we need more than 21 GB, so we prefer to go a little above 20,000 MB. I chose 20480 from the available field. Click on the “Minimize” button.
When you click on the “Minimize” button, another console appears. Right-click on the black part of the disk we just created, select the new “New Simple Volume” from the options given in the list.
Like when you click on the “New Simple Volume”, you will be redirected to another page. Here you will be asked to enter the name of the volume (drive). I prefer to give it as “Windows 11” not needed as it’s just a name for the drive.
Disk partitioning is almost complete. Keep clicking “Next >” button until you find the newly created healthy partition. Same as that shown in the figure.

Install Windows 11 from ISO image
Load the ISO file to USB or DVD. Boot your system and change the BIOS settings for the first bootable drive to USB or CD-ROM from which you want to load Windows 11. Insert USB/DVD into the PC and restart the system as you always do to install the system operating. The black console asks you “Boot from the disk”. Press the Enter button. Configuration verification now begins for Windows 11.
Then click “Install Now”. You will be asked to choose between “Upgrade” or “Custom” installation type. Choose “Custom” installation type and continue until you see it once more.
Choose a suitable language for you. Click Next”
Picking out Partition Windows 11 drive (which we created to install Windows 11). Go ahead and click the Next button. Installing all components of Windows 11 takes some time.
If you did everything correctly, you will finally be asked to choose between the two operating systems that you now have on your PC. Choose Windows 11. You are ready to start Windows 11. The system will reboot and on the black console screen you have the option for Windows 11. Press enter.
