How to Block Any App Using Face ID/Touch ID on iPhone

2023-05-13 16:30:00

Apple has already allowed, for some years, the possibility of lock apps using the Face ID or the Touch ID. This ends up making them more secure, providing a second layer of protection once morest strangers.

The big problem with this is that developers need to enable this function in their apps — which is not the case for many of them.

However, a simple trick can help solve this. So, whenever an app is opened on your iPhone/iPad, you will be taken to the locked screen — and you must re-authenticate using biometrics.

See how super simple it is! ????

Open the Shortcuts app (if not installed, download for free from the App Store). Then tap the “Automation” tab and “Create Personal Automation” (or first tap the “+” in the top right corner if you already have automations set up).

Scroll a bit, choose “App” and, on the next screen, choose the one(s) you want to use for this purpose. Select “OK”, keep the option “For Open” checked and tap “Next”.

Tip: you can select as many apps as you want from the list, so all it takes is a single automation to block all the apps you want on your iPhone.

On the “Actions” screen, choose “Add Action” and look for “Lock Screen”. Go to “Next”, uncheck “Ask when running”, confirm “Don’t ask” and tap “OK” to finish.

And that’s it! ????

From then on, whenever you tap the app icon, the locked screen will be shown. Re-authenticate using Face ID/Touch ID and swipe up to open it.
