Anyone who accompanies Casa de Valentina must have already seen several projects with the use of burnt cement. Versatile and simple, he is the darling of the time when it comes to industrial style. I’ve already shown here how to decorate your home in this style, and I also visited several projects that adhered to the trend, such as the Open House by architect Lucilla Almeida.

But in addition to being industrial, burnt cement can also be used to make the environment more relaxed, chic or rustic, depending on its application. With that in mind, I gathered tips and information on the best way to apply burnt cement in decoration and leave your apartment or house the way you always dreamed of.

Burnt cement is a mortar made from cement, sand and water, a mixture that must be prepared in the same place of application. In order for the effect to be as desired, it is necessary to give the burnt effect, and this happens as follows: with the mass still fresh, the cement powder must be thrown over it and smoothed with a trowel. The difference in the pigmentation concentration of the putty guarantees the burnt effect. Cool huh?

In order to achieve other colors, it is necessary that the powder added to the cement be made from different stones. For example, to achieve a light and neutral color, either marble or granite is mixed. In order for it to be colorful, it is necessary to add color pigments, giving a more cheerful look to the decoration. A good tip is to be careful with the environment where you want to introduce the burnt cement: in the bathroom, for example, the ideal is to opt for a porcelain tile that imitates burnt cement, as the place can come into contact with water.

So, did you feel like revamping your decor? Another very cool highlight of burnt cement is that it is easy to maintain and lasts a long time, so there is not much concern regarding maintenance or renovation.
