Apple’s “always-on display” display on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max is a little different from what we’ve seen on Android smartphones, rather than the screen going completely dark, as on Android smartphones. However, the iPhone 14 Pro’s always-on screen is more than “always on”, which is nothing but a dimmer lock screen.

Dark lock screen dims the lock screen when enabled. However, on the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, it also dims the always-on screen, making it appear black and white, similar to how the always-on screen appears on Android smartphones.
How to enable always black and white display on iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max
Open Settings, tap Focus, then select any of the off focus modes — Do Not Disturb, Personal, Sleep, or Work — and select the options. Now, switch to Darken Lock Screen.
Now, the “always on” screen on your iPhone 14 Pro will appear even darker in black and white. However, the catch is that you need to turn on the particular focus mode.
When enabled, the date, time, and widgets will appear white, while the rest of the screen will be dimmed, just like how they work on Android.
