how the engineer’s black year ends –

The Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, has seized 6.6 million euros from Carlo De Benedetti through the Revenue Agency on an intragroup current account between his two holding companies Romed and Romed international. Open writes it. The liquidity freeze is highlighted in the explanatory notes to Romed’s 2023 financial statements, as occurred in 2024 after the end of the financial year. “The Revenue-Collection Agency”, write the administrators of the Engineer, “has requested the parent company Romed International SpA to pay 6.6 million euros, initiating an executive foreclosure procedure in 2024 for the interest-bearing loan of interest paid by it to our company. The company has appointed its lawyers to manage the enforcement procedure”.

According to Romed herself and as stated in the article by Franco Bechis, behind the foreclosure there are tax audits which began in 2016 “concerning the requalification by the Tax Office of some reimbursements of shareholder loans, which gave gave rise to a series of tax assessments notified in recent years. All assessment notices regarding Romed”. Tug of war, the one with the tax authorities, which was lost by De Benedetti and his companies both in the first instance and in the second instance. Speaking to Open is the CEO of Romed, Luisa Graziani: “It has already been decided to proceed with the request for third degree judgment”, she stated. As we read in the online newspaper founded by Enrico Mentana, the financial statements of the subsidiary companies are all in the red and the Romed holding company also closes with a loss of 19.77 million euros. This result, however, was better than that of the previous year, in which the Engineer had lost 43.9 million euros.
