Highlights

09 — One of Paul’s highlights from the day included the HIMSS organization’s press conference, where it shared news regarding the work being done in emerging markets for nursing clinical informaticists.

28 — Another significant announcement from the conference is the partnership between Oracle and Zoom. This partnership will allow Oracle to use Zoom for telehealth, remote patient monitoring, and remote home health. Paul says this is a “big deal” for both Oracle and Zoom.

16 — Hornetsecurity revealed a startling statistic that 20% of reported ransomware attacks happened in the last 12 months, with QR code injection attacks, in particular, on the rise. Hornetsecurity has responded to the threat by releasing a QR code-scanning product that identifies links in QR codes that may be security risks.

14 — Microsoft “is really killing it at this event,” says Paul, with the company announcing the release of an open-source platform called Jarvis on GitHub. Jarvis aims to tie all other large language models (LLMs) together. The platform is up and also available on GitHub.

43 — Medical AI startup Aesop has been accepted into the Mayo Clinic Platform_Accelerate program, which is an accelerator for companies that have essentially proven health technology, especially in AI. This will provide an incubation environment for Aesop, and it is a significant achievement for Aesop, says Paul.

18 — Paul concludes by noting that HIMSS23 has a different energy this year, with a high volume of vendors and attendees.
