In Cook County, a wage increase will be implemented starting July 1, 2024. In this sense, the minimum wage for the aforementioned county has a new ordinance that increases the payment for each working hour.
Beginning July 1, 2024, the base hourly wage in Cook County will be $14.05, while for those who receive tips it will be set at $8.40..
As explained in the ordinance that will govern Cook’s new wage measures, “Any employer who violates this chapter shall be subject to a fine of not less than $500, nor more than $1,000 for each violation.” It also clarifies that “each day that a violation continues will constitute a separate and distinct violation to which a separate fine will apply.”
