This corner of Argentine Patagonia offers a wide range of activities during this season of the year. Although it seems that winter is slow to go away, there are only a few days left for the new season to fully bloom.

Short hike to Cerro Amigo

Located east of El Bolsón, this viewpoint has an excellent view of the entire town, the El Bolsón valley, the mountain range and Cerro Piltriquitrón.

It is known by the residents as the “Cerrito de la Cruz”, since at its summit there has been a white cross for many years that can be seen from the town.

City Tour around the city

The historical and cultural heritage can be learned through the self-guided circuit that has 20 stations around Plaza Pagano, and the so-called historic center. It can be accessed at

Walk through Mallín Ahogado Circuit

Mallín Ahogado Waterfall: In an atmosphere of serenity surrounded by the beauty that frames the native vegetation, you can witness the magnificent waterfall, formed by the Arroyo del Medio that falls in two large steps with a total height greater than 20 meters high.

It is located within one of the green space reserves under municipal jurisdiction, where years ago the uneven terrain was used to install a small hydroelectric station. The waterfall is framed by a particular native vegetation. At its feet a beautiful pool forms, a special place where you can go with family or friends.

Make canopy

The excursion includes 8 zip lines, in a circuit of more than 1000 meters in length with flights ranging from 60 to 200 meters long and up to 25 meters high. All with a stream crossing in the middle of the Patagonian Andean forest.

In a property with leisure and recreation areas, those who will not participate in the activity can enjoy, taking a walk immersed in the nature of the forest in all its splendor. cAs witnesses will be the towering coihues, accompanied by cypresses, lauras, radales and maquis that make up the native forest.

Excursions to productive farms

El Bolsón always awaits you with a wide variety of craft beers, but you can also visit dairy production factories such as regular and flavored cow cheeses, dulce de leche and yogurt.

Trout farms: In these establishments, through guided tours, you can observe the trout fattening ponds and learn regarding the smoking process. You can also taste the different products they make (pâté, smoked trout, trout in oil, etc.).

Fungus: El Bosque offers us this highly appreciated ingredient in gastronomy every year. In our valley, every spring you can collect fresh cypress mushrooms (morels), and autumn allows us to enjoy pine mushrooms.

In Drowned Mallín is the first Truffle farm in El Bolsón. In Argentina, today there is only one producer in Choele Choel and another in Buenos Aires. Some time ago, two friends began to evaluate crop alternatives for the area, with the challenge of facing an agrotourism project.

A themed farm with fruit trees where people can tour the plots and taste. One of the producers was stubborn regarding producing truffles and so, together with his partner, they set their sights on regarding 800 oak trees. After hard work, in 2019, they found the first black truffle by chance.

Saffron: It is a highly sought following product in gastronomy, and in El Bolsón there are 2 hectares dedicated to the cultivation of this spice. It is a family farm that is dedicated to the cultivation and harvesting of this plant and, also, there you can find a great diversity of bulbs and ornamental plants. From January to April it is possible to visit these plantations and enjoy an explanatory talk by the owners of the place.

Juniper: At the entrance to the town, there is a juniper producing farm, in which the harvest, selection and packaging of it is carried out manually.

Juniper has an ancient tradition related to different uses, both medicinal and culinary, and of course, as raw material and fundamental ingredient for the preparation of “gin”, the alcoholic beverage so fashionable these days.

Currently, in addition to having its own juniper plantations, the establishment also produces a gin of its own creation and brand (Valkirya Gin) in small quantities.
