He National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (indec) will broadcast this afternoon the Argentine Commercial Exchange (ICA) and the monthly valuation of the basic food basket (CBA) and of the total (CBT), all the indicators corresponding to last May.
The commercial exchange of April left a deficit of US$ 126 millioncompared to the surplus of US$ 1,454 million in the same month last year.
This way, the first quarter of the year closed with a negative balance of US$ 1,469 millionagainst a profit of US$2,840 million in 2022, the year that ended with a surplus of US$6,923 million.
For his part, the cost of the products that make up the Basic Food Basket (CBA) rose 7.3% in April, which determined that a family made up of two adults and two minor children needed income for $97,148 to avoid falling into destitution.
While, the Total Basic Basket (CBT) advanced 6.3%, so the same family group needed to have income of $203,360 so as not to fall below the poverty line.

In this way, the CBA, which measures the evolution of the prices of foodstuffs necessary for subsistence, and which marks the threshold below which the indigence line falls, accumulated an increase of 40.1% in the first four months of this year, against general inflation of 32% in the same period.
While the CBT, which measures the income needed to pay for food and beverages, clothing, and services of a typical family, rose 33.3% between January and April.
