All are displayed on the formal table in front of the house. At the right time on New Year’s Eve, the head of the family lights lamps, candles, pours wine and makes a respectful prayer. When burning incense, just stick it in the rice bowl and stick it straight, not tilted.

New Year’s Eve offerings in the house include a tray of five fruits, incense, flowers, candles, confectionery, Tet jam, vegetarian Chung cake, Gac sticky rice, and vegetarian dinner tray. At the right time of New Year’s Eve, the eldest in the family dressed neatly, rinsed the mouth with fragrant wine, and began the ceremony.
Lunar New Year Offering
Lunar New Year means that the first morning, the worshiping ceremony is performed on the morning of the first day of the New Year with the most complete tray. On the followingnoon of the first day of the Lunar New Year, some families make rice offerings to the Presidential Palace, that is, to offer dinner. The salty ceremony is usually the offering of banh chung, chicken, spring rolls, soup… Many families only worship in the morning, skipping this evening meal.
Due to abstaining from killing on the morning of the 1st of the Lunar New Year, the chicken offering for the Lunar New Year is usually made the night before.

Some families offer rice every day from the year-end meal until they turn to gold to send their ancestors off. In this case, the tray is simply presented with rice or sticky rice, banh chung, spring rolls and assorted jams and candies. Gold offerings
The ceremony to see the grandparents off usually takes place from the 3rd to the 7th. However, nowadays almost every family sees their grandparents off on the 3rd of January, there are families who leave early and then pray on the 2nd. The feast also depends on the circumstances of each family, not too formal but still dignified.
It is called the gold offering ceremony because on that day, the descendants burned gold coins to spend in the underworld.
