Those names combed through obsessively, sifted with multiple and continuous unauthorized accesses, so as not to miss, until the last minute, the alert of a suspicious transaction report, a police investigation and even a roadside check. The new documents from the Perugia Prosecutor’s Office outline the modus operandi that Pasquale Striano implemented in that Anti-Mafia wormhole, to steal documents on centre-right politicians and VIPs and pass them on to his journalist friends from Domani, investigated in competition with the financier and with the ‘former prosecutor Antonio Laudati because, according to the investigators, they were the ones who asked for the illicit searches on the analyst system to steal confidential data which later became journalistic investigations.

In those thousands of pages sent by the prosecutor Raffaele Cantone to the Anti-Mafia Commission, which is investigating the dossier scandal, all the abusive accesses that the spy chief carried out, from 2018 to 2022, on politicians who had nothing to do with the mafia or terrorism, but which ended up in the blender of the dossier center in crucial moments of the democratic life of the country.

And it is no coincidence, as months of in-depth analysis certify, that Matteo Salvini’s League is the most exposed party since it attracted the attention of spies with its exploit in the 2018 elections. In fact, from the documents it emerges that some 172 medially exposed targets, thirty-eight are members of the Northern League, the subject of hundreds of illicit intrusions into the analyst system, from which the financier downloaded a myriad of confidential documents then sent to the reporters of Domani, the newspaper which stood out for the massive campaign against the League. And another disturbing aspect emerges, capable of thickening the hypothesis of a real dossier on the Northern League: a file on Salvini’s party would have remained at the National Anti-Mafia Prosecutor’s Office for several months, when the leader was Federico Cafiero De Raho, in the period in which the leader of the Northern League was Minister of the Interior of the Conte 1 government and had ended up in the crosshairs of the red robes for the policy of closed ports.

De Raho-Striano, the red thread from Reggio and the boom in dossiers: these are the real links

Further confirmation is given by the chat of Luca Palamara, who, responding to the chief prosecutor of Viterbo Paolo Auriemma who underlined that he did not see “where Salvini is going wrong”, replied that “in any case he must be attacked”. In short, a political-judicial-media encirclement that the obsessiveness of the illicit intrusions of the spies seems to strengthen. And now the investigation continues in the utmost secrecy, hunting for the instigators, accomplices and even the recipients. Because in addition to the hundreds of files sent by Striano to Giovanni Tizian, Nello Trocchia and Stefano Vergine, who also works for the daily Fatto, there would be other journalists from the financier’s network who used the spy with controlled access as the source of their exclusives.

Also worrying the investigators are the 220 thousand files downloaded by the suspect and disappeared into thin air, a bottomless pit that the Cantone prosecutor filed for review last Tuesday, the day on which the Freedom judges should have expressed their opinion on the Prosecutor’s request to arrest Striano and Laudati, on the basis of the danger of evidence contamination, recognized for both suspects, and the repetition of the crime, hypothesized only for Striano. The hearing was postponed to November 12 following the filing of that mass of documents, which the judges will now have to examine. While from Perugia they try to solve the mystery of where that enormous mass of files was diverted which did not translate into articles in Domani and of which, at the moment, there is no documentary proof of having taken place. Ultimately, there are over 220 thousand documents that Striano allegedly stole from the analysis systems and which, to date, it is not known where they may have ended up. Just as the hunt for the instigators is still underway.
