Qhat are the energy labels listing the performance of a household appliance by classifying it on a scale from A to G really worth? This is what the European Consumers’ Association (BEUC) wanted to know, which published a study on Thursday measuring the effectiveness of this labeling and more broadly that of the European Ecodesign directive which imposes energy standards but also ecodesign. for a whole series of everyday devices to limit their energy consumption and carbon footprint. First carried out in 2016, this study showed that consumers might save between 330 euros each year (just by buying products covered by minimum eco-design rules) and 515 euros (by choosing the higher class of the energy label ). Since then, eco-design rules have become even stricter.
