How Elon Musk Ruined Twitter

In addition, Takahashi and Nelson said their Twitter was experiencing technical errors, often displaying the error message “Rate limit exceeded” every time a new page reloaded. This message only appears on accounts with a high following and has never happened before.

New policy causes panic

The “We Rate Dogs” account owner shared that he used to work with Twitter staff specializing in managing KOLs and Twitter celebrities to share regarding new features and consult their reviews. However, the team lost most of its staff following the layoffs, so Nelson was unable to reach anyone at Twitter.

Even the major Twitter accounts say they’ve noticed the quality of the content has begun to decline, with hate speech messages and comments popping up everywhere.

Clara Sorrenti is transgender and the owner of the account “Keffals” has 150,000 followers. She said that the comments implying discrimination once morest the LGBTQ+ community below her post were detected and deleted much slower than before.

Previously, accounts that insulted the orientation or mentioned the deadname (the old name of transgender people) were often removed very quickly because they violated Twitter’s policies. But in recent months, the number of accounts locked for these reasons has decreased significantly, Clara Sorrenti shared.

Musk also uses his account of more than 124 million followers to share personal views and enforce new Twitter policies. “I can’t tell what’s new from Twitter because it’s all announced on his personal account,” Sorrenti said.

Therefore, many people have expressed their opposition to Elon Musk. Since the billionaire became CEO at Twitter, Takahashi has created an account called “Best of Dying Twitter” with more than 65,000 followers in just 2 months.

The account specializes in posting Musk’s posts or writing regarding Musk from Twitter’s mass loss of staff or plans to recover locked accounts.

Takahashi said the majority of her followers want to see Twitter’s comedy play under Musk. However, along with that, Takahashi also received many rude comments.

She shared with NBC News a text message from strangers insulting her and accounts critical of Elon Musk. “I have never been mocked in the comments and messages so much. I was even called by names that I never thought I would get in my life,” Takahashi said.
