Amid the innovations brought by the iPhone 15 Pro, an often underestimated feature is the Action Button to perform more than a simple action. Surprising, isn’t it? The change to a programmable button compared to the traditional mute switch has been a real boon for many users. Even more so, for those who keep their phones on silent permanently.
What is the iPhone 15 Pro Action Button?
The most striking highlight of this year’s iPhone 15 Pro isn’t just its lighter titanium frame, the new A17 Pro processor, or the camera system, although they’re all much appreciated. In short, the big star is the Action Button: that small button located above the volume controls, which replaces the mute switch present on all iPhones since the first model.
Despite being just a button, the action button represents perhaps the biggest hardware upgrade the iPhone line has received in years. Its strength lies in its programmability, which opens the door to a new way of using the iPhone. By associating the action button with custom shortcuts, you unlock its full potential. By default, the button operates as a direct replacement for the old mute switch, being used to adjust the phone’s ringer settings.
How is it configured from the factory?
When purchasing the iPhone 15 Pro, the action button is configured as follows:
When pressing the button for a short time: The iPhone is muted, and you will notice a distinct haptic signal with three pulses;
By pressing the button quickly: When giving this command, the iPhone will show the icon that the phone is silenced, on the Dynamic Island.
When pressing the button once more: iPhone will disable the ringer sound. In this case, you will feel a single haptic pulse.

How to configure the Action Button for a specific app?
If you want to go further, you can configure it to activate a shortcut capable of performing almost any task you want. Like, for example, Mc Donalds.
Open the application Shortcuts and tap plus icon in the upper right corner of the screen; Tap Add Action and select the tab Applications on the next screen; Select the application Mequi; Tap Comprar to add a specific item or ask for the shortcut whenever requested; Choose the item for your order on the next screen. You will need to specify whether you want to be asked each time or whether you want to choose a specific item from your most recent orders. Tap Concluded to save; Access Settings > Action Button and select Shortcut;
Finally, tap Choose a Shortcut and your new shortcut will be listed under My Shortcuts.
