Within 20 minutes of stopping, the heart rate begins to adjust, and so does the level of blood pressure.
Within 12 hours of stopping, carbon monoxide decreases to its normal levels.
After one to 12 weeks of stopping, blood circulation improves, and this appears on the skin, lung function improves, fatigue and shortness of breath decrease.
After a year of quitting smoking, the risk of coronary artery disease, stroke and premature death decreases.
The Ministry of Health and Population called on citizens to quit smoking because it is a major threat to public health, and causes many dangerous diseases that may cause death.
