Hearing is one of the most precious senses, but often underestimated. Prolonged exposure to noise above 80 decibels can cause irreversible hearing damage, according to the CDC. However, thanks to the application Noise on Apple Watch, we now have a tool to monitor and protect our hearing. This app might be the difference between maintaining healthy hearing and facing irreparable loss.

Noise App: what is it and what is it for?

The Noise app on Apple Watch is an innovative tool designed to monitor the noise levels around us and help protect our hearing. It detects and measures the decibel levels of the environment we are in and provides alerts when noises reach levels that might be harmful to our hearing.

This is especially important in situations where we are exposed to constant noise, such as at concerts, noisy work environments or during activities such as using power tools. Additionally, the Noise app is also capable of working together with AirPods.

It can measure the sound levels that reach our ears directly when we are using these devices. This way, we can have more precise control over noise exposure, especially when using features like noise cancellation.

How to activate or deactivate the Noise App?

Activating the Noise application is very simple. To do this, simply open the app no Apple Watch. Then you need to click Activate for the device to start monitoring.

On the other hand, to disable the Noise app, you need to open the Settings app on Apple Watch Ultra. Then tap Noise > Environmental Sound Measurements e disable Measure Sounds.

Finally, you can also open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Then tap My watch > Noise, and disable Environmental Sound Measurements.
