The journalist Juan Cristóbal Guarello took advantage of his participation in this Friday’s edition of “The Tenors”to respond to former Argentine soccer player Cristián Traverso, who launched a controversial publication on his social networks once morest the members of the Radio ADN sports program.
It all started with an interview that “Los Tenores” did with Francisco Meneghini, former coach of Unión La Calera and current DT of Everton. At one point in the conversation, “Paqui” was asked regarding the remembered match between the “cementeros” and the U in Rancagua, which ended up agonizingly sealing the Blues’ permanence in First Division.
Traverso took excerpts from that conversation and published them on Instagram, enclosing a harsh accusation. “The thief thinks that everyone is of the same condition as him. In a note, some journalists not only doubt the result of a game, but also the professionalism of the players, those same players who are later called to give them notes, with a total lack of respect insinuating things that only exist in his imagination”, was part of what he wrote who shone in the U between 1995 and 1996, and then was multi-champion with Boca Juniors.
Guarello’s reply
At those words, Guarello made his defenses. “I want to answer Cristián Traverso. It turns out that we interviewed ‘Paqui’ Meneghini and asked him how he felt regarding the match once morest Universidad de Chile. And Mr. Traverso, who is an important former player from the University of Chile, cunningly implies that we were suggesting to ‘Paqui’ that the game was fixed”, the journalist began by stating.
“Moreover, he uploads the cut question to his Instagram, the intervention of Danilo (Díaz) cut, he does not put the answer of ‘Paqui’, that is, of bad milk and a bad intention, simply to ingratiate himself with the baboon fan, to tribune. Traverso is ashamed of what he did, and if he has any doubts regarding how the question was asked, he should call ‘Paqui’, not us, because he would have to respect ‘Paqui’ because he is more linked to the University of Chile, being part of the body extremely successful coach of Jorge Sampaoli”, he continued.
Guarello remarked that “the question was how he (Meneghini) had felt it, but this man, taking advantage, made a tribune with the fans of the U. How dirty will Traverso’s conscience be that he himself came out to defend the U from something that he had not been charged at any time, either directly, indirectly or insinuated.”
To close, the well-known sports commentator declared the following: “Please go to the archive and listen to Danilo’s (Díaz) comment and the complete interview with ‘Paqui’. I found it very mean and bad class on his part. If he were just any guy, he wouldn’t care, but today Traverso is a player entrepreneur, would he want to sell a player to the U? How dirty will Traverso’s conscience be that you defend yourself once morest accusations that were not made?
