On January 17, the Ho Chi Minh City Public Security Investigation Police Agency prosecuted the accused and detained Mr. Tran Ky Hinh (former Director of the Registry Department) for the crime of accepting bribes under Article 354 of the Penal Code.
Before Mr. Hinh, the investigating agency prosecuted and detained Mr. Dang Viet Ha, Director of the Vietnam Registry Department for the same crime. Thus, two generations of the head of the registry are “indigo” regarding the act of taking bribes.
Former Director receives monthly payment
Mr. Tran Ky Hinh worked as the Director of the Vietnam Register from January 1, 2014 to August 2021, when he retired according to the regime. During this time, Mr. Hinh once answered the press regarding the negative situation at the registration centers.
At that time, the head of the registry said that this unit would handle it very seriously, closing a series of centers, indefinitely suspending many centers, center leaders, and registrars across the country.

On the other hand, during his tenure as the Director of the Vietnam Register, Mr. Tran Ky Hinh loosened his management, lacked inspection and supervision, directly received monthly and quarterly bribes from directors. Systematic, cross-cutting mistakes
After Mr. Tran Ky Hinh retired, Mr. Dang Viet Ha was appointed as Director of the Registry Department from August 1, 2021.
