How Congo seduced Standard and Poor’s – Jeune Afrique

In a few months, Brazzaville managed to become the good student of the “Big Three” of the rating. On July 28, Standard & Poor’s (S&P) raised Congo’s rating from B- to B in the short term and from CCC+ to C in the long term, with a stable outlook.

The agency had already advanced it last year from CCC+ to B-, while those of Fitch Ratings and Moody’s followed suit, moving respectively from CCC to CCC+ and from Caa1 to B3. The agencies then relied on favorable growth prospects and better management of finances public.
