This Thursday evening, a hundred people gathered in support of Iron, the dog who had participated in the drama of July 11, 2021 which had seen Talya, an 8-year-old girl, killed by at least one of the two mastiffs who remained without monitoring with her.
While the police had opened the gate of the SPA premises to allow a vehicle to pass, a scuffle broke out in the crowd. “All I wanted was to stop the start of a fight between the police and two other individuals,” explains the 59-year-old Louviérois. “Neither one nor two, without my realizing anything, I found myself handcuffed against a wall of the SPA, in the rain, without the possibility of sheltering myself.”

Four arrests?
According to Pierro, three other people were also arrested during this nightmarish evening. “Me, when everything was over, I was released and I was able to go home without worry. But the other three were not so lucky and were taken to the police station, I imagine to spend the night there. With such emotion, such a tense climate because of what was happening behind the walls, it was logical that scuffles occur. But all I wanted to do was intervene to avoid any overflow. It took me badly.”
On the side of the police of La Louvière, silence was in order and we were warned from the outset, when we contacted them, that no communication would concern the events of this Thursday.
Fear of overflows
In the camp of the SPA, we of course regretted these excesses which could have harmed a passage from life to death calmer for Iron. “The police anticipated their action because they suspected that there would be overflows on Friday”, confided Gaetan Sgualdino, president of the SPA, Thursday evening. “Given the events of this Thursday, they were right.”
This Friday, the SPA communicated a message which will certainly close this saga which has lasted for more than two years: “We have lost one of our own, one of our protégés. We have lost a part of us. Tomorrow, for things to change, for animal rights to finally be considered, for Iron to not only be a victim, but to become a symbol, for everyone else, tomorrow we will rise again. We are Iron, more than ever. Iron left peaceful, surrounded by the people who loved, cared for, fed and educated him for more than two years. We would like to thank you for your mobilization, for your thoughts, your messages and your support.”
