The OkCupid app used the famous chatbot to generate questions that users answer to define themselves and what is important to them.
Schools, justice and now, dating applications. ChatGPT can also be useful for the latter and this is already the case with OkCupid. This app used OpenAI’s famous chatbot to generate a new category of match questions, reports the site Mashable. These allow users to define themselves and indicate what is important to them. OkCupid includes thousands of them and among them, six were created by ChatGPT and then tested with users.
To obtain them, the application asked the chatbot to generate questions that individuals should ask during meetings. The chatbot thus proposed “Are you more introverted or extroverted? », « What is your favorite way to spend a weekend? or “What do you appreciate most in a partner?” “.
A successful test
According to Michael Kaye, global communications manager at OkCupid, the six questions have already received more than 135,000 responses. They reveal that the majority of respondents see themselves as introverts and are night owls, but also that most prefer spending time with friends on the weekends rather than doing other activities. They also indicate that trust is what they value most in a partner and that they rely on their guts to take their relationship to the next level. Finally, users find the balance between their needs and those of their boyfriends or girlfriends by expressing them, making time for themselves and spending social time without their partners.
OkCupid decided to use ChatGPT in the face of its meteoric success. “A topic dominating conversations” among trends in the tech industry, Michael Kaye told TechCrunch. “We started asking our daters what they thought of the platform and other emerging AI tools, and found that daters who believe ChatGPT is a savior get almost 40% more matches than those thinking he’s too Big Brother”, explained the head of global communications. From there was born the idea of using ChatGPT to generate the questions feeding the algorithm of the dating application for matches.
