“Something stupid happened to me,” she says Carinthian presenter Amira Pocher in the latest episode of her podcast “Dear Life” (Podimo), which she runs together with her brother Hima Aly. Because, as she says, the 31-year-old fell for “a rip-off”. When three workers rang at her door and said they had just done something for the neighbor and now wanted to clear moss from her driveway – for ten instead of 50 euros per square meter – the Klagenfurt resident didn’t think much.

Since Amira Pocher was in a hurry, she asked her housekeeper to clarify the matter with the workers. However, when she called her and said that the men had estimated 3,600 euros following they had “measured” the area with steps, she was amazed. Since she hesitated, the workers tried to accommodate her with the price. And what’s more: they wanted the money in cash.

“Angry at my stupidity”

She goes on to say that she doesn’t actually have that much cash at home. She also wanted to ask for an invoice. But just then her brother came home with the children. “Then they started complimenting me and distracting me.” So the 31-year-old gave the supposed gardeners the money. In cash. And she eventually forgot regarding the bill too.
“I’m broke now,” admits Amira Pocher half-jokingly and continues: “I’m annoyed by my own stupidity.”
