And it is that the pandemic demonstrated the importance of finding a comfortable place that provides people with well-being in the midst of everyday life, As confirmed to SEMANA, Sergio García interior designer and design consultant for Kare Colombia, who also shares his vision regarding the influence of spaces on people’s emotional well-being.
According to the designer, interior design fuses the functional needs of a space with the aesthetic and emotional ones. In this sense, the spaces become a place for self-knowledge, control and emotional refuge. “To be more precise, a color, an aroma, a texture, a memory, finding the meaning and purpose of your space will always give glimpses of well-being,” says García.
How can small spaces be livened up so that people feel better?
Sergio García shares some simple tips to transform small spaces into extremely pleasant places:
- The most important thing is the activities that need to be carried out in the space, This is fundamental since it allows “you to have a clear vision of what is useful to you from what you already have, what you should reorganize or find another language for, such as what you need to complement and improve your space.”
- Find rooms inside the house for different activities, as for example, “the reading place, your music corner, where to sunbathe, a privacy capsule, etc.” says the expert.
- Once the functionalities have been defined, the most advisable thing is to incorporate elements into the space, and little by little it will take on that personal touch that will help to liven up the place in the most appropriate way “for example wallpaper on a wall, plants in some areas, a healing aroma, the right lighting for your work area, boxes, drawers or organizers that allow you to maintain order, such as having everything at hand, the mug of your tea or coffee that open up moments of rest and reflection in the midst of the work you are doing”.
