That’s why, To prevent workers from reaching this critical point, it is essential that organizations implement effective preventative strategies.

“The pandemic made it impossible to ignore what was already a growing mental health crisis, and has reminded us of the importance of prioritizing it, as well as well-being,” reflects Gustavo Aguilera, Director of Talent Solutions and People & Culture at ManpowerGroup Argentina. And he adds: “Organizations have the challenge and responsibility to help our employees detect warning signs and promote a healthy work environment for everyone.”

The burnout syndrome has full incidence on the work performance of employees.

According to ManpowerGroup’s “New Age of Human Potential” research, 48% of workers say they overwork on a regular basis during the week and nearly a third (29%) say they wish their leader had a better understanding of the effort required to complete tasks. In turn, 31% indicate that they would accept another position in the next month if it offered a better combination of work and lifestyle.

“Wellness policies are no longer seen as a benefit, but as a fundamental strategy for success. Caring for and supporting the mental health of our employees will not only improve their quality of life, but will also boost productivity, creativity, and commitment.”

Against this backdrop, HR leaders must expand traditional health and safety policies to improve mental health and build resilience. Offering tools to manage stress, encouraging disconnection outside of working hours and providing emotional support are some of the actions that can be carried out. The role of leaders is crucial to prevent the overload of demands and tasks, promoting a healthy and balanced work environment.

In addition, Organizations will need to have flexible procedures and practices adapted to this new reality, offering people a better work-life balance. In this sense, the three most important factors that employees prioritize are: the possibility of choosing start and end times (45%), more vacation days (36%) and having completely flexible work options (35%).

“Welfare policies are no longer seen as a benefit, but as a fundamental strategy for success. Caring for and supporting the mental health of our employees will not only improve their quality of life, but will also boost productivity, creativity, and commitment,” concludes Aguilera.
