How can a company obtain Green Card sponsorship? (+Requirements)

Companies operating in the United States (US) have the possibility of offering Green Card sponsorship when hiring foreign employees.

To achieve this, it is necessary for the employer or company to comply with a series of procedures to be able to grant their future employees the right to live and work in the United States with permanent residence.

Steps to sponsor a Green Card

If a company needs to hire an employee who is based in another country and does not have a visa, so that he or she can be sponsored and receive a Green Card, here are the requirements.

The first thing the company must present is the offer of permanent employment in the country and with a full-time schedule, in order for it to be accepted.

Job offer

To prove this, the company must publish a job offer in the United States, with a regular recruitment process that gives the first opportunity to a citizen of the country.

If a citizen cannot be hired, the company must file an immigrant petition for a foreign worker with Form I-140 with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

The employer’s next step is to demonstrate that it has the ability to pay the salary package offered in the job.

Visa application

Once the company approves the application, the foreign employee can apply for a visa from the US embassy or consulate in his or her country of origin or request a change of immigration status from USCIS.

In order for this foreign employee to enter the country, a series of conditions are required, such as medical examinations, passing a criminal record and meeting all admissibility requirements.

An employer can sponsor a Green Card if they are in one of the following categories such as EB-1, EB-2, and EB-3 visa.
