When the iPadOS 17 was announced, early beta users discovered a world of creative opportunities. That’s because Apple introduced device support UVC (USB Video Class)opening doors for the use of external cameras and webcams.
An unexpected experiment was made by Federico Viticcido MacStories. In an article for the website, he says he used — successfully — a Game Boy Camera (1998 relic) as the webcam for FaceTime calling on your iPad Pro.
According to him, the very unusual configuration involved connecting the Game Boy camera to a console Analogue Pocketwhich was then connected to the iPad Pro using HDMI adapters — and, believe me, the result did not disappoint.
Despite intentionally embracing the camera’s grainy, retro quality, the experiment proved surprisingly effective. Viticci also discovered that certain FaceTime effects, including the new 3D reactions, worked completely.
While experiments like this may seem atypical, they highlight the versatility and potential that iPadOS 17 offers. Given this scenario, the future of the iPad seems limitless, leading users to explore its system even more.
Announced at the opening of WWDC23, iPadOS 17 and Apple’s other operating systems are currently in the testing phase. If the company maintains the standard, the final version of the next edition of the system that equips the company’s tablets should be launched later this month or, at the latest, in October.
