Yemeni Houthi rebels say they will not attend peace talks convened by the Gulf Cooperation Council as part of Yemen’s peace efforts. The Houthis announced that they would abstain from talks called in Riyadh later this month. The meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council was convened as part of a search for a political solution to the Yemeni conflict. The meeting was scheduled to take place at the GCC headquarters in Riyadh from April 29 to April 7. The GCC Secretary-General said that all Yemeni parties, including the Houthi rebels, had been invited to a joint meeting aimed at ending the conflict in Yemen. Naif al-Hazrat reported. But the Houthi rebels withdrew from the talks. However, the Yemeni government responded by saying that their decision had been anticipated.
Accept the ceasefire and move on. The talks are aimed at continuing UN-sponsored peace talks, strengthening Yemeni government institutions in accordance with the constitution, alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, and restoring security, peace and stability.
