In the third quarter of this year (July to September), total household credit (debt) increased by more than 14 trillion won compared to the previous quarter, setting another record.
This is because, despite high interest rates, home mortgage loans have surged to over 17 trillion won with the recovery of the real estate economy, and the scale of card use has also increased as travel has increased.
According to the ‘Household Credit (Provisional) for the Third Quarter of 2023’ statistics announced by the Bank of Korea on the 21st, the household credit balance as of the end of September this year was KRW 1875.6 trillion, at the end of the second quarter (end of March, KRW 1861.3 trillion). It was 0.8% (14.3 trillion won) more than 100 billion won. It is the largest amount ever, exceeding the previous record of 1871.1 trillion won at the end of the third quarter of last year. /yunhap news
