The Zurich public prosecutor’s office confirms the house search by the Winterthur city police.
He is well known in the region: the operator of the two accounts “szeneishwinti_blog” and “dewinterthurer”. Because of the published videos, he came into conflict with the law around three years ago. Because the then 29-year-old warned on Instagram regarding ongoing police traffic controls, he had to go to court and was sentenced to a fine of 1,800 francs.
Now the Winterthur resident has once more found himself in the sights of the authorities: On Friday morning, the Winterthur city police searched the Tiktoker’s apartment. He announced this himself via social media accounts.
Tiktoker claims innocence
In 20 Minutes, the man from Winterthur took a stand and said that he had not exceeded any legal limit: “The search is an absolute scandal. I am neither involved in any case nor am I accused.” The Tiktoker adds: “The Winterthur city police showed up at my door because they hadn’t made any progress with their own investigation.” He is active as a journalist on social media and reported on car break-ins in December.
In this context, he used footage of real burglaries in one of his videos. “Based on the recordings, the police initiated proceedings. “My videos are probably supposed to help catch the burglars,” the Winterthur resident speculates.
That’s why the police officers were mainly just following his cell phone. “They threatened to turn the whole apartment upside down if I didn’t hand over my cell phone. Then I had to do that.” When the police got the videos from the Tiktoker’s cell phone, she immediately left without even opening a drawer.
Tiktoker questions house searches
Throughout the day, the Winterthur resident continually reports on what happened on Friday morning. In a story post, the Tiktoker rhetorically asks whether the search was even legal.
In the post he shows an official document from which it can be seen that searches in winter are only allowed to be carried out from six o’clock in the morning. It is not clear what kind of document this is.
“The house search served to secure evidence”
The public prosecutor’s office confirmed the house search in Winterthur to 20 Minutes. Based on a complaint, she is conducting criminal proceedings once morest a third party. Erich Wenzinger, media spokesman for the Zurich public prosecutor’s office, states that the Tiktoker from Winterthur is not accused in the criminal proceedings.
