The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Karol Cariola (PC), referred to the suspension of the district week, which was scheduled to begin this Monday, to deal with specific security projects – following the murder of the three police officers in Cañete – and announced that, during the next week, the intelligence law and the Rules for the Use of Force (RUF) will be processed.

In conversation with “Mesa Central” on Channel 13, Cariola reported that “we are going to be processing, in the Defense Commission, Monday, Tuesday and even Wednesday.”

“I have stated that on Thursday we can hopefully have the final processing of these laws in the Chamber. My disposition is to call a legislative session on Thursday, Friday or both days, if these laws are finally cleared from the commission, that depends on the work of the commission,” added the Communist Party deputy.

“On the other hand, the Constitution and Security commissions, which are processing the RUF, would be united, (an initiative that) has also taken a long time, there have been differences,” said the parliamentarian, who added that “at least, there are “a general agreement that both laws are necessary.”

The United Security and Constitutions commissions will begin to meet starting this Monday for the aforementioned RUF project.

Meanwhile, the Intelligence Law, also present in Congress for years, will be processed in the Defense Commission.

Deputy Raúl Leiva (PS), member of the Security and Constitution commissions, valued the decision and emphasized the importance of advancing in both projects, however, he emphasized that “if we must move forward, it is in the creation of the Ministry of Public security”.
