(CNN) — The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Mike Turner, made information regarding a “serious threat to national security” available to all members of Congress for review. Two sources familiar with the matter and a US official told CNN that the threat is related to Russia.

Multiple sources familiar with intelligence matters characterized her as “very sensitive.”

Earlier Wednesday, Turner sent a letter to his congressional colleagues saying the urgent issue is “regarding a destabilizing foreign military capability.”

One of the sources who accessed the intelligence confirmed that “it is, in fact, a very worrying and destabilizing “Russian capability” that we recently learned regarding.”

Turner said in the letter to colleagues that the House Intelligence Committee voted on Feb. 13 to make certain information available for lawmakers to review, adding that members have time to view it until Friday.

Turner also called on President Joe Biden to declassify “all information related to this threat.”

National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said he had personally reached out to arrange a meeting with top lawmakers on the national security committees before Turner publicly warned of what he called a “serious national security threat.” .

Sullivan showed some frustration with Turner for preempting that meeting, scheduled for Thursday, with his public statement, saying he was “a little surprised that Turner came out publicly today.”

“I contacted Turner,” Sullivan said. “Turner’s out in public. I’m going to go see Turner tomorrow. That’s where I want to leave things for today.”

He declined to give further details regarding the nature of the threat.

“I’m not in a position to say anything more from here at this time,” he said.

He emphasized that the Biden administration has “gone further, more creatively and strategically, in addressing the declassification of intelligence in the U.S. national interest than any administration in history.”

“So you’re definitely not going to find an unwillingness to do it when it’s in our national security interest to do it,” he said.
