Wout van Aert will ride the Houffa Gravel, the third round of the Yuzzu Gravel Series and the only qualifying Belgian event for the UCI Gravel World Series.
After the World Cycling Championships, the Houffa Gravel will be the next race for Wout van Aert. He will be in good company, since Niki Terpstra et Jan Bakelants will also be present.
The race will be 110 km long in the heart of the Ardennes. “I recently took some rest so I’m not in my best shape“, he said via press release.
“But it’s good to test the hardware and see how it performs in such a race. I hope to learn something from the specialists at the start. It’s good to feel how it all works“, adds van Aert, eager to participate in the world in Veneto, Italy, on October 8.
“I think it is useful to have participated in a gravel race beforehand. This is a great opportunity, close to my home. I ride here mainly because I love to race and introduce myself to my fans and the public, and gravel is something I really enjoy.“Van Aert has already taken the opportunity to ride on his gravel and test himself as we can see on his Strava.
The Houffa Gravel is also part of the UCI Gravel World Series, which means that participants have the opportunity to win a ticket to the world championships there on Saturday. 25% of the fastest gravel riders in Houffalize will indeed qualify for the world gravel championships in Italy.
