SideFX a recently announced the arrival of an optimized Apple Silicon version of Houdini, a software specialized in 3D creation intended for video games or the world of cinema and television, or even virtual reality. This professional software has been available on Macs since 2008, shortly following their transition to Intel processors, but its designer is not abandoning the Apple platform now that it is moving away from it once more.
Houdini was already working on Apple Silicon Macs thanks to Rosetta 2, but these kinds of professional tools still benefit from all the hardware power available. We imagine that these versions optimized for the new chips will offer better performance, which is valuable at all stages in a professional environment. Mac users with an Apple M1 chip or an Apple M2 will now be able to count on optimized versions that will be released as regularly as for Intel Macs and other platforms supported by Houdini.
Houdini is offered in multiple variants adapted to different contexts, with a free version intended for amateurs. They should all now be optimized for Apple Silicon chips.
