After Napoleonic France disputed the Dappes Valley with Switzerland because it was a military route, a treaty was signed between the two countries that led to the birth of the Franco-Swiss village of La Cure. It was thus that Ponthus built a house in said city that served as the headquarters to sign border treaties. After that, he built himself a bar in the French area and a store that offered food in Switzerland.
Unfortunately, monsier Ponthus passed away in 1895 and, almost 20 years later, the establishment passed into the hands of Jules Joseph Arbez, who decided to change the business line. In this way was born Hotel Arbez, also known as the Hotel Le Franco-Suissewhich continues to this day.
