The least we can write is that the emergency services at the Ardentes festival in Liège are on the coals… hot. Indeed, while the festival is still only halfway through, Red Cross rescuers have already counted nearly 2,000 interventions, more than the 1,600 interventions for the four days of the festival. last year’s festival.
“These are essentially heat-related problems,” explains Nancy Ferroni, spokeswoman for the Red Cross. “It was really very hot and we recorded a lot of discomfort, but nothing very serious”.
Reinforcements
That said, according to social networks, several dozen people suffered from food poisoning, which would be due to the “drinking” water distributed on Thursday at the festival campsite. “I don’t really know what happened there, but things have been resolved, a truck from Chaudfontaine came urgently to bring water, the time to resolve the situation”. Everything is apparently back to normal.
The emergency services also gave a “phew” of relief at the end of Travis Scott’s concert. Everything went without major incident. The services were indeed on the alert since, on November 5, 2021, a crowd movement had claimed the lives of ten people during the rapper’s concert at the Astroworld festival, organized in Houston, Texas.
Given the heat and the very high number of interventions, the Belgian Red Cross asked for reinforcements to help the 55 rescuers planned on site.
