Seven people were injured, three seriously, in a hot air balloon fire during takeoff early Saturday morning in the canton of Zug in northern Switzerland, police said.

The balloon had just taken off around 06:00 local time (04:00 GMT) from the place called Mattenboden in the municipality of Hünenberg, when it caught fire and fell suddenly to the ground from a low altitude, said a press release.
The injured are four women and three men aged 28 to 62.
Two women and a man were seriously injured in the accident, the causes of which are still unknown. The other four passengers were more lightly affected.
City firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and secure the scene.
The injured were transported to hospital by the emergency services and individuals.
The Swiss Security Investigation Service (SESE) is in charge of the investigation.
It is the federal prosecutor’s office which is responsible for possible criminal proceedings, the accident falling within the scope of the federal law on aviation.
