“Tove Lo” gave a damn hot concert in the large hall of the Vienna Arena – in the truest sense of the word!
For a large part of the young queer scene, this evening was a must: Tove Lo made a stop in the large hall of the Arena Vienna on her “Dirt Femme Tour”. I went in and immediately went out once more – the concert hadn’t even started and the room was already really heated up. But I didn’t get bored waiting for the support act, because even though I didn’t know anyone there, a few people immediately engaged me in conversation. There was definitely a plus point here for the audience, who were so open-minded and nice.
The support was provided by the musician “alma“. Their dance pop prepared excellently for Tove Lo. Although I didn’t know Alma, it was possible to listen to her songs. While she was accompanied throughout by a DJ, one song only featured her singing, supported by an acoustic guitar. From that point on, I no longer doubted her singing talent – what a voice! Alma really blew me away and the set went by far too quickly for my liking.
It didn’t take long until “tove lo” finally began her performance. Their music invited people to dance and exuded a good atmosphere. The stage was simply designed, its band members were shrouded in clouds. There was a small platform in the middle of the stage, which Tove Lo stepped onto for a few songs. There, thanks to the wind machine, her hair was blown away and it sometimes looked as if she was floating on a cloud herself. Yes, the stage design was simple but effective. In addition to the stage design, Tove Lo herself was also an eye-catcher: several outfit changes and her dancing skills were impressive, but also her proximity to the fans: she even went to the front row for one song. and then there was another highlight that made me very happy: support act “Alma” was brought on stage for a song! They performed together and complemented each other fantastically!
During the song “habits”, the penultimate one of her show, Tove Lo had to briefly interrupt due to a medical incident. At this point it was over 30 degrees in the sold-out hall, so it was no wonder that people no longer felt comfortable here. The mood changed a bit, Tove Lo examined her audience meticulously, the second half of the song “Habits” was no longer carried by exuberance and good mood.
Unfortunately for me, it was the song “Habits” that accompanied my early youth and was also my reason for attending the concert in the first place. And the fact that this particular song went completely wrong can’t be made up. I also knew very little of their other numbers, but still had fun. Yes, in the end it was still a nice evening. I would also like to mention that there was free tap water at the bars – a relief at such high temperatures and not a given in times like these. So once more a big thank you to the arena!
