The news comes as the show is once once more the most listened to radio show in Canada according to the latest Numéris survey.
“I really want to thank you; it is extremely touching to know that you are there,” explained the host who advised his bosses at Cogeco that he will be leaving his post in two years.
“Our discussions go back in time with Paul. He has indeed warned us of his desire not to renew his contract at the end of its term in 2 years. Paul is a staple of radio and we will enjoy every moment with him. The rest of the things will be announced in due course,” commented Cogeco.
It’s time for big starts at 98.5. The announcement of the departure of Paul Arcand in two years is added to that of Paul Houde who will leave the station following 15 years of loyal service on June 19 and Bernard Drainville who recently announced that he will cease his political column – following 4 years and more than 1000 chronicles – to return to politics under the colors of the CAQ.

While his collaborators sang to him, This is just a goodbye joke during the Thursday morning show, Paul Arcand took the opportunity to set the record straight and put an end to rumors of his imminent departure in laughing.
“One, I am not deceased and second, I am not leaving tomorrow followingnoon, I am neither a candidate for the CAQ, nor for Éric Duhaime, nor for the Liberal Party, nor for Québec solidaire, before the rumors … I’m leaving in two years, the election is in a couple of months. Anyway, that’s what I said.”
More details will follow.
