Dr. Hossam Mowafi, Professor of Critical Cases at Kasr Al-Ainy College of Medicine, explained that there is a category of people whose health may be affected in the blessed month of Ramadan, if they suffice only to eat the breakfast and suhoor meals.

Muwafi said during his program “My Lord, Increase Me in Knowledge”, broadcast on Sada Al-Balad channel, that the category he is referring to is “everyone who is 35 years of age or older.”

The professor of critical care medicine added that these people need to eat 3 meals a day during the month of Ramadan, just as they do on normal days.

He recommended that they divide the breakfast meal into two meals, the first following the Maghrib call to prayer, while the second following the Tarawih prayer, taking into account that each meal separately includes the following foods:
– Meal following the Maghrib call to prayer: a quarter of a loaf of bread + a piece of cheese + tomato slices + a cup of tea with milk.
– Meal following Tarawih prayer: rice + vegetables + meat.

With regard to the Suhoor meal, Mowafi pointed out the importance of eating it 15 minutes before the dawn call to prayer, provided that it contains a cup of yogurt and two options, to avoid feeling thirsty during the hours of fasting.
