Hospital General Cuajimalpa is first in “IMSS-Wellness”

The Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, inaugurated in coordination with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), the Cuajimalpa General Hospital, the first to enter the “IMSS-Well-being” program and in which medical care is provided to beneficiaries and people without social security.

It is the first hospital in Mexico City to join the federalization program for health services “IMSS-Bienestar” where free medical care will be provided to all.

Upon arrival at the post, the local president promised to build a General Hospital for the demarcation, to achieve this she faced an amparo filed by private interests that did not want the hospital center. Therefore, a consultation was carried out in which 95 percent of the inhabitants approved the project. Thanks to this, the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) donated the executive project, and the Ministry of Works (SOBSE) supervised.

For her part, Zoé Robledo Aburto, the General Director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), highlighted that the new “IMSS-Wellness” program will be extended to the entire country.

“We have an additional motivation and I am not going to stop saying it, our motivation is: that if we do it in Cuajimalpa, we can do it in the city, and if we do it in the city, we can do it throughout Mexico,” he said.

The construction of the new hospital was carried out by the Secretary of National Defense (SEDENA), together with the capital’s Government, where 450 million pesos (mdp) were invested; and 269 million pesos in the equipment commissioned by the Institute of Health for Well-being (INSABI) and the Ministry of Health of Mexico City (SEDESA).

The general director of the IMSS reported that the entire hospital staff will be covered with 641 health workers from different branches: nursing, laboratory, pharmacies, maintenance, conservation, as well as medical specialists. On November 16, more resident specialists will be integrated, including gynecologists, pediatricians, surgeons, gerontologists, internal medicine, palliative care, neonatology, trauma and orthopedics, intensivists, and anesthesiologists. In addition to having a powerhouse, a laundry area, a new ambulance, transportation vehicles, consumption of goods, and the Emergency and Hospitalization area has already started operating.

“In this hospital everyone is received and no one is charged, because that is another of the purposes of the Fourth Transformation, that is universal health,” said Zoé Robledo

Jorge Alcocer Varela, the Secretary of Health of the Government of Mexico, informed that the Cuajimalpa General Hospital has already granted 143 external consultations; and in emergencies 408 adults and 297 children.

“In gynecology and obstetrics, 18 women have been given a real way out of their health situation; The same, unfortunately, to those who have had crashes, traumas or who have a problem in this city”, said Secretary Alcocer.

The inauguration of the Cuajimalpa General Hospital was attended by the general director of INSABI, Juan Antonio Ferrer Aguilar; the Secretary of Health of Mexico City, Oliva López Arellano; the general director of the Health Services “IMSS-Bienestar”, Gisela Lara Saldaña; the director of the Cuajimalpa General Hospital, Nazarea Herrera Maldonado; the Undersecretary of Metropolitan Coordination and Government Liaison of the Secretary of Government (SECGOB), Israel Moreno Rivera; the Secretary of Towns and Neighborhoods and Resident Indigenous Communities (SEPI), Laura Ita Andehui Ruiz Mondragón; and the mayor of Cuajimalpa, Adrián Rubalcava Suárez, as well as health workers and inhabitants of the demarcation.
