The split, which opens the year quite furiously Hide has anticipated that the reboot of Horsewhip would be successful. Consume and Burn now confirms this – albeit less enthusiastically than hoped.

After a few personnel changes (guitarist Dave Teten is new, while his quasi-predecessor Shaun Drees is now doing the roaring at the front and bassist Jeff Howe is taking over the backing vocals). Horsewhip Although it was shot a little less idiosyncratically off the track than on the debut curtain call Laid to Wastealso thanks to John Howard’s sound, but fundamentally more complete and fuller than before: the metallic hardcore of the band from Florida concentrates the chaos purposefully and powerfully in the teeth-baring bull-neck hardness between Every Time I Die and Your Hero Is Goneenergetic and distilled directly to 19 minutes.

Dissolve exemplarily gallops like a punk wrecking ball with a sludgy finish in the note, including the double Plague Machine and Full of Fury controls the aggression very dynamically, but without provoking a particularly varied or profound catharsis. A fundamental problem becomes even clearer when: Buried Running too much on track means that it doesn’t explore the amplitudes of madness to extremes.
Instead of explicit scenes, the general attitude remains Consume and Burn hang.

An album that takes up the tempo in an atmospheric interlude Dark Matters actually makes the only relative mistake – because the 65 seconds may be intended to be pleasant for the stimulus receptors, but in the flow the pressure is a little misplaced, where the clamp is from Pain Immediately followingwards, it would leave just the right amount of room to breathe anyway – but apart from that, it doesn’t make anything really outstanding, spectacular or particularly original.
That also with the final one Hide-Split post Circadian Rhythm the best song on the record casts a shadow over the rest Consume and Burn (here too, at least in terms of ratings) then ungratefully appear in a weaker light than the reboot of Horsewhip actually became.
