Ukrainian soldiers who were released from captivity by the Russians claimed they were subjected to horrific torture while there, including being castrated with a knife.
The Sunday Times, a British weekly, introduced the testimony of two Ukrainian soldiers who were released on the 17th (local time) in a prisoner exchange from a Russian camp.
They were aged 25 and 28, respectively, and spent one month and three months in a Russian camp.
The Sunday Times reported that they met with an expert at a psychological counseling center in Poltava, central Ukraine, and confessed this.
Angelica Yachenko (41), a professional psychological counselor, confessed, “I heard regarding their experiences and for the first time, I mightn’t deal with them like a professional.” It means that their testimony was shocking.
Yachenko, who has never heard of such a horrific torture, confessed, “It was so shocking that I had to walk away for a while.”
These soldiers, in consultation with Yachenko, said that they were beaten almost every day while they were detained in the camps.
“One day drunken Russian soldiers came in, tied them up, and took out pocket knives and castrated them,” the soldiers said.
They still wonder how they might survive because there was so much blood at the time, they recalled the horrific situation.
Now they have returned to Ukraine, but they say they are still suffering from nightmares.
One of them confessed to Yachenko that he had made an extreme choice.
Yachenko explained that among the tortures, castration not only causes physical damage, but also causes great psychological pain because she can no longer function as a man.
Such terrible torture by the Russian army also took place in July of last year.
At the time, a video of Russian soldiers castrating captured Ukrainian soldiers was circulated online and shocked the international community.
