I wrote – Yasmine El-Sawy:
The nose of a German patient with monkeypox began to rot, and it was considered one of the strangest cases recorded in the current wave of the epidemic.
The 40-year-old man went to the doctor complaining of a red spot in his nose that he thought was due to sunburn, according to the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”.
Contrary to what was expected, the man’s nose, whose name was not disclosed, changed to black within 3 days, complaining of pain and swelling, and at the same time, some spots filled with white pus appeared on his body until it reached the mouth.
Tests showed that this patient suffers from both syphilis and HIV and has not yet been diagnosed, while doctors were told that he had not undergone any tests for sexually transmitted diseases before.

Many medicines were prescribed to fight these diseases and get rid of spots and problems that appear on his skin, with the improvement of his nose partially.
Doctors said that this person’s condition had become more severe, because he had not been treated for HIV, which led to the strong weakening of his immune system, and he became more susceptible to sepsis.
A patient in his forties faces a low white blood cell count like any person suffering from AIDS.
Sepsis occurs when tissues begin to die, and this leads to infection, as it is difficult for tissues to obtain the required nutrients.
Smallpox can lead to rotting of the sebaceous glands in the skin, particularly in the nose and face, the same thing that happened with this man’s infection with monkeypox.
Doctors at the University Hospital Bonn prescribed him Tevovirimat for a week to treat monkeypox.

The patient was also given antiretroviral tablets twice daily to reduce the amount of HIV from the bloodstream, as well as cefriaxone and Rocephin for 10 days to treat syphilis.
The scales of the pimples on his body and face began to dry and fall off, and the swelling in the nose decreased, although he has not fully recovered yet.
