In the end, it all comes down to our hormones, whether there are too many of them or because they are lacking.

I begin by clarifying that I am not a doctor. Nothing further. But every time I hear more people (yes, finicky women) around me complain about a condition that is added to those that women have, that 51% of the population. This condition is called indifference, lack of attention or perhaps more worryingly, lack of medical knowledge. I explain.

Women who reach a certain age find themselves with symptoms that do not seem to have a connection with each other: insomnia, stomach upset, palpitations, depression. Irritability that appears in bursts as well as an uncontrollable urge to cry. As they arrive they leave. Weight gain. Hair loss. We are usually prescribed painkillers and meditation exercises for anxiety. In the end, it all comes down to our hormones, right?

Others, on the contrary, suffer from a type of gastritis, a stomach upset that is neither serious nor fatal, but continuous. Sometimes neck discomfort, muscle stiffness, like having slept poorly and on one arm. Fatigue. The doctor labels the symptoms as stress, a lot of work at home and in the office, children, husband, the gym. We have to learn to relax and leave clothes unwashed or food unprepared so as not to fill ourselves with so much work. It’s just that women seem to want to do everything. In the end it’s our fault. We wanted to do everything, right? Now let’s learn to manage stress.
