Horizon Forbidden West was released on Steam on March 21st and so far the sequel has simply not been able to match the PC success of the first part. But there are some understandable reasons for this.

Why Horizon Forbidden West is doing so much worse

Horizon Forbidden West only reached around 25,000 players on launch day and that’s only half of the players who played Horizon Forbidden West right at launch. The first part managed to attract over 56,000 players.

Unfortunately, Horizon Forbidden West chose an unfortunate launch day, as Dragon’s Dogma 2 is currently the topic of conversation. The role-playing game from Capcom was released on March 22nd. No other game can see the sun in this shadow.

And with current prices, who can afford two full-price titles within a few days? In addition, Forbidden West follows on from the events of the first part, which limits the target group a little compared to Dragon’s Dogma 2.

In addition, the first part was released on Steam in 2020 and was one of the first PlayStation exclusive titles released on the PC platform. This attracted much more interest from players. The sequel no longer has this special bonus.
